It's been a while, I'm tired, and I'm cranky

So life got away from me. Between the homework and the job searches and my attempts to keep up with Poufwa and reading tons of fanfiction, yeah, I've gotten a little busy lately. It doesn't really help that met up with people two weeks ago and Easter was last week... I haven't seen people in a while and those who I have seen I've kinda lost my temper with a time or too because I am oh so tired all the freakin' time. I can't wait to be out of college and done with a life where I'm always running. I still have two drabbles to do and a podcast to edit (though I did do the sketch I promised someone involving two elves and a boat... now if I could only remember who I promised it to...

I've been watching a lot of Stargate lately, and I have to say, it's sad to see Don S. Davis, after everything that happened. I've been rewatching Season 1 and 2 on Hulu, and I have to say, I miss the good old days. I mean, I know the most recent episodes are awesome and the effects are unbelievable... but there was something about the first five seasons (before Michael Shanks got all cocky and attempted to find work elsewhere) that just makes me so warm and gooey inside. Perhaps it's the fact that Daniel dies about five times every season, which I think is freakin' hilarious.

Other than that, life has been good, mostly filled with Poufwa and just getting by. Pack and Poufwa are quickly becoming rather interconnected, which in many ways is good and in other ways can just make my life completely crazy. It's a little like a 3-year-old on a sugar high in some way. The party's fun and the crash is hard. It makes you sleepy. Anyway, I promise to post more than this... for your amusement, or to just bribe you:

Fairly exhausted... Thursday was long with class stuff and homework stuff and birthday stuff, and friday was stuffed with friends going "you haven't hung out with us in forever... come hang out with us!" I honestly don't remember parts of yesterday... maybe there was drinking... I know we talked about my 21st birthday

On to homework... the kitty below is merely for your entertainment

Busy bee...

Sorry, sorry, it's been a while since I've had time to sufficiantly update this about my life between school and writing (my mom emailed me about publishers and I nearly blew a fuse because I don't have time when I'm in school. But I'm trying to get little moments in where I'm working on one story or the other (granted mostly I'm working on fan fiction because it's my icing on the cake and I want a break from the world. Jack's doing some interesting things (and I really liked the fact that in the Book of Morgan Le Fay because the author contemplates the fact that some of the injuries from war are going to be permenant). I have some interesting scenes in the works between Sirius and Jack that I'm excited to start on paper.

Besides that I'm keeping up on my school work this semester and trying my hardest to actually get good grades this term, trying to secure a job for May - August (there's a $10/hour job up by home that I'll probably take) and find an apartment... But between reading for classes and essay writing and the late nights with Spanish notecards (oh crap I have a quiz tomorrow don't I... - it's on the same review I've gone over the past 4 years, I think I'm alright), I'm writing and reading as much as possible, while still keeping my sanity... which is hard, considering everything...

Something that's been on my mind of late - I'm going to be 20 in two weeks... I really don't want to be turning 20, I don't want to be an adult and older and in charge of my life. It's odd, because I disagree with my parents and I'm old enough to not live with them and still get on with them to some extent... but for once in my life I'm afraid of the world. Friday I was talking with my friend Katie and we were talking about how each of us would die (God forbid) if we ran into trouble... I realized then that if anything was going to kill me it would be my utter paranoia (and yes, I'm a very paranoid person). Other than that, my life has been on Leaky and PFW... I feel like I'm fitting in more on both, nestling into my little nook between the different Hufflepuffs in the Common Room, armed with my bookshelves stuffed with books, Diet Coke, and fabreeze. Oh! and I've been trying to be actually alive around my friends, so that's taken some time out of life... Friday night we're going out and chilling, some of these people I haven't seen since before Christmas, so I'm extremely excited.

Anyway, that's pretty much it... toodles!

Blago is gone...

W00t!!! Blago is gone, and we get a new governor and I'm praying to GOD that he's a better one than our past history's... I'm keeping busy, besides, and my hips are hurting again, which is a bad thing... Thursdays are just bad, it's long classes, working out, spending time in the lab (I practiced ser v. estar and the past tenses...). I caught a nap today, which was good, I have a paper to do tonight and that's it until the weekend,

Anyway, dinner's finished and I need to get back to work (paper due...) I'll update tomorrow more...

Crazy, crazy times...

Had a great weekend, had a great week really...

Friday:
After I said goodbye to everyone, I caught the LUC shuttle downtown and went to the church. Kids were already there, as was my two other co-leaders. I had soda and pop and I was all ready to go with everything. We put everyone in our cars and high tailed it out of there as soon as possible because of the two and a half hour drive that we had to camp... There was a moment there that I nearly tore some heads off - there was snow up to my thigh up there and we were taking on a hill, a steep hill mind you, and when we didn't make it on the first try, the driver began to back up for attempt #2 and everyone started screaming that we were all gonna die... That was the first time I've actually considered swearing at them... (this is a youth group mind you...)

Saturday:
Despite the freezing temperatures and huge pile of snow that had been dropped on Michigan, we went sledding and played tons of games and generally tried our darnedest to wear out the children, which failed because the ones on sugar never wore out and one kid got a fever (that we know of). But the camp is fantastic and it seems the same as it was last year. By mid-afternoon the leaders were worn out so we all took showers and took naps while one of us who had enough energy stayed watching the kids... I never met to fall asleep, but I wound up sleeping an hour... we spent a lot of time on God and what the golden rule really means, and what it really means to love our enemies, which I don't think the kids completely got the whole idea of it.

Sunday:
It took us four hours to pack up and clear out of the camp (and there's always something that got left behind that I have to pick up after.... after that we just headed straight for home, I got back by 5pm and was out like a light at eleven.. now to do all the homework I was supposed to have done this weekend...

Rehash

Alright, two days later I'm feeling quite a bit better... as I type this I'm listening to PFW (sometimes I want to buy the entire song on iTunes, it's that good...). Drama continues online, but I can face it a bit better these days. I feel a little bad sometimes because I'm online so much between balancing being online and keeping up with my studies (I'm determined to get better grades this semester), I've kind of shut out the rest of my world. It doesn't help that all my joints have taken to hurting at random intervals and my back has gone to the dogs.

So here I am, balancing my life and trying to keep everything in check without blowing up my laptop... it's happened, last year... I dropped my laptop off my bed and cracked the screen. I had to pay $900 to get it fixed...

Anyway, I've been updating this for a while, and I've got notes to transcribe an a two page paper to write... I like the fact that this semester I actually know when all my assignments are coming. My compy homework is only due every 2 weeks and I'm already half-way done! Huzzah!

Right then, off to do other things

Very tired, long week

My week in a good summary...

Weekly update time! I've been getting increasingly busier over the past week (surprise, surprise right?). My classes have a lot of reading to them and I already have two essays due next week, chapters to read (I've already poured through Dubliners by James Joyce). I like all my classes, My prof in my fiction class is Northern Irish and we're learning all Irish stories, which is really really cool. My Computer class will be learning (gasp!) Python, so the first lessons were easier because I did go through some of it two summers before. Spanish is the same as ever, down to the identical worksheets that we always start out with. We have to spend an hour a week in the Language lab now, so I watched the first half of Motorcycle Diaries, which is very interesting. Race and Ethnicity is going to be interesting, I'm starting to understand why all my friends have been raving about the professor (which is, admittedly, why I took the course, besides the fact that it was required for core.
Besides classes I've just been chilling with friends a lot. We seem to congregate around food a lot (last night it was noodles at Megan's, Thursday it was French Toast and Firefly at Katie's), so I'm eating well and fairly regularly ;)
That's pretty much all that's happened, not much going on besides, hope you had a good week!

Sunday

Back in the dorm, back to cramped living on $50 or less... such is life, I suppose... Sunday, day of rest - always the day I run around like a chicken with it's head cut off, going grocery shopping, doing homework, cleaning, etc. I drive myself crazy, but it's everything I don't get done during the week...

Getting back to teaching the kidlets was fun, but on 6 hours of sleep, it took 2 cups of bad coffee to get me awake enough to teach my portion of the lesson, though I didn't really mind how bad it was, which is a testiment to how tired I was.

So the cupboards are full and we have everything we need for a while, I'll post again really soon, I swear...

Planning has now commenced, which is kind of crazy for me. I'm planning all the way in April and I don't know about tomorrow... I need a 10hr/week job so I can just get by this semester and I don't know if I have enough money to last out the next semester. I think I need to get off this and actually breath and have a little faith that everything will work out.
Listening to podcasts and eating chocolate - this is a great vacation, apart from the whole drama thing...

The best gift that I ever got...

Every year I never understood how people can use the phrase "I want" each Christmas. from little kids to family members it's always irked me because that isn't what this season is supposed to be about. I got into a fighting match with my biological family because people were spending too much time spending time concentrating on what they wanted and little time on family and the true meaning of Christmas. As the annual tradition goes, I had lost my temper by the time my family got around to the true meaning (usually reserved for the last hours).

So since I was in a bit of a bad mood, my mother lost her temper and sent me to my room. Biggest mistake my parents made this year - giving me noise canceling headphones. I will never come out of my room again!!! And so I come up and join my Christmas with my real, nonbiological family, and they comforted me and turned me to PFW to completely giggle at and feel a lot better. So the best gift that I ever got is Caparo, all the friends that I love so very much, and PFW and PotterCast, which both keep me smiling

Trip and Anti Christmas

I'm ignoring the random people downstairs that I sometimes call my family right now, so I might as well tell you all about Hawai'i now.

Tuesday: Got up early-ish (7am) and did final packing (forgot about five or six tee-shirts on my dresser). When we got to the airport, we all checked our bags and went through security. I got the family McDonolds (Diet Coke for mom, as usual), and then we waited for the next hour until our flight took off. Let me tell you all now, I generally HATE flying. I never can sleep and the seats never fit me right. So the flight was all right, for being nine hours, and we landed around three in the afternoon (seven body time) to 80* weather. After grabbing dinner and watching the sunset, we all passed out.

Wednesday: After an early morning and grabbing an expensive, mediocre breakfast at the hotel, we went to the Pearl Harbor memorial, which was very sad and very moving, but still alright. We ended up spending the entire morning there, and then went back to the hotel to chill on the beach for a while at my insistance. After about an hour, my parents and brother had had enough and dragged me to see some of the natural spots on the island, which were rather cool, and I took lots of pictures.

Thursday: Our last day on Oahu, we went to the Royal Museum from back when the Islands were a kingdom... it was rather fun, and there was this huge Banyon tree out front that was fantastic. If any of you were aware, there's this great banyon tree in Waikiki where we stayed where Robert Louis Stevenson wrote under, and I got to write under it too! In the afternoon we went to this waterfall that my brother had heard about before we went to this surfing beach on north end. However, the hike was longer than my brother heard, we never managed to get to the beach, and I ended up with about twenty mosquito bites

Friday: Got up early, flew to the big Island, and spent the afternoon at the beach. I don't think we would have stayed nearly as long if they weren't renting snorkling gear and we got to go out and see coral and tons of colorful fish... That was incredible. I even saw a sea turtle, was about two inches from one as I passed over it! There were a great diversity of fish in the cove and I really enjoyed looking at everything for a good hour before I got tired.

Saturday: Went to the Volcano in the area, spent far too long there (it was 2 hours away), then went back. It wasn't a great day...

Sunday: Suntanned all morning, reading LwD, then left for a 6pm flight... we landed at 6am Chicago time and I came home and crashed, I hadn't slept at all on the plan...

That's it, now I should go clean up and get breakfast
